Centralised paper and cardboard vacuum system in the recycling sector

One of Italy's leading groups operating in the electricity, gas, district heating, integrated water services, environment and technology services sectors.

The company recently inaugurated a new plant dedicated to the recovery and valorisation of paper, cardboard and plastic, transforming them into secondary raw materials.

A high-tech facility, the largest in Italy in terms of volume processed, capable of handling up to 135,000 tonnes of waste per year thanks to automated sorting systems, optical sensors and air jets for separating materials.

The entire process is entrusted to highly automated systems: optical sensors, air jets and mechanical devices working in synergy to accurately separate the different types of materials.

The operational flow is divided into three large integrated areas: one section dedicated to the automated sorting of plastic from separate collection and industrial and commercial circuits; a second section dedicated to the sorting of paper and cardboard, where optical and mechanical technologies identify and separate the different qualities of material; and, finally, a pressing and packaging area, where the sorted materials are compacted by type and prepared for subsequent processing.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT

In such an extensive and technologically-advanced plant, constant cleaning of the work areas is an essential factor. In particular, the areas near the conveyor belts require continuous monitoring, as dust, residues and accumulations not only compromise line efficiency, but can also generate operational risks in the most delicate points of the process. The client therefore needed an industrial extraction system that could operate reliably, continuously and be fully integrated with the complexity of the new plant.

SOLUTION

To meet these requirements, Sibilia designed a centralised extraction plant extending over 350 metres, custom-developed to ensure safety, continuity and maximum performance in every area of the production site, with a total of 48 extraction points.

The heart of the system consists of an S9E central vacuum unit, combined with a 0.5 m³ PR3058 A cyclone filter , configured to work safely, efficiently and continuously along all treatment lines.

Sibilia industrial vacuum cleaners ensure the effective removal of fine dust, scraps and residues generated by sorting processes, thus keeping work environments clean and safe while protecting machinery and promoting stable, high-performance operation. This solution also guarantees full compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Thanks to this solution, clients can maintain their plants at maximum efficiency, ensuring that every stage of the recycling process — from optical sorting to pressing — takes place in the best possible conditions, transforming waste into new resources in a sustainable, controlled and completely safe manner.

PRODUCTS USED

S9E

The central unit of the S9 model maintains the same characteristics and performance as the model with a filter apparatus. Thanks to its compact size, it is the perfect solution for fixed installations, combined with the PR3058 0.5 or 1 m³ cyclone filter.

PR3058 0,5 m³

The PR3058 cyclone filter is a compact 0,5 m³ hopper equipped with an integrated cyclone, designed to perform a dual function: filter apparatus for central units and collection container for vacuumed material.

It can be equipped with safety devices, various types of material discharge and filter cleaning systems. Combined with the S5, S8 or S9 central units, it allows for the creation of high-performance centralised systems.
