Truck-mounted unit for port emergency response

Our client is a highly specialised service company operating in the sectors of environmental remediation, asbestos removal and air conditioning systems, as well as the sanitisation and professional management of containerised goods.

An important part of their business involves emergency response in ports and storage depots, where they are called upon to secure damaged or spilled containers, intervening quickly to restore operating conditions and limit environmental and logistical risks.

The aim of their service is twofold: on the one hand, to ensure environmental protection and prevent further damage resulting from accidents or tampering with the cargo; on the other hand, to recover the goods contained in the container, minimising economic losses for the end customer. The company has gained extensive experience in handling both dangerous and non-dangerous solid and liquid goods, specialising in the correct stowage and lashing of cargo in accordance with international regulations. Operations are carried out by highly qualified personnel, with the aid of advanced technologies and following certified procedures to preserve the integrity of the goods and prevent any form of contamination.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT

In this specific case, the company was called upon to intervene on a 40-foot container that had been accidentally damaged during handling operations. One of the forks of the forklift had pierced the structure, compromising the containment of the loose bran inside. It was therefore necessary to transfer the entire contents to a new container, avoiding waste, spillage and further damage to the material, while ensuring speed so as not to slow down the terminal's logistics operations.

SOLUTION

To deal with these types of operations, Sibilia supplied an S15 model with a roll-off platform and blowing system, a configuration designed to operate smoothly in various ports with loose materials in complex operating conditions. Thanks to over 80% vacuum and an air flow rate of more than 2100 m³/h, the Sibilia S15 unit made it possible to vacuum the entire contents of the damaged container quickly, in a controlled manner and without any product loss.

The vacuumed material was then transferred with the same ease to a new container using the integrated blowing system, capable of blowing materials up to 40 metres high. The operation was carried out in a very short time, without the need for manual handling and in full compliance with the safety standards required in the port environment.

Thanks to this solution, the client was able to complete this type of operation while minimising waste and ensuring the full protection of the transported material. This is a concrete demonstration of how Sibilia technology also supports critical activities, offering reliable, efficient tools that can be perfectly integratedinto industrial sector workflows.
